In his first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 final, Marin claimed his 15th title with a 6-4, 7-5 win against Andy Murray (ATP 2) after one hour and 34 minutes, ending the Scot’s 22-match winning streak.
On his way to the title, Marin defeated Viktor Troicki et Fernando Verdasco in straight sets, before beating Tomas Berdych in a spectacular thrilling third round.
In the quarterfinal, Marin met his compatriot Borna Coric, who was forced to retire with injury, before a three-set semi-final win over Grigor Dimitrov that followed a two-hour rain delay.
