For the first time in their career meetings, Marin lost against Ivo Karlovic and it happened in the opening round at the Shanghai Rolex Masters.
Karlovic won by 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (2) and got some revenge for losses in their two previous encounters.
“It’s always a gamble with him, it’s tricky to play against Ivo. The match was decided by a few points in the tie-breaker of the third set that Ivo played very well. It was high-quality match on both sides, I think that the crowd enjoyed the match“, Marin said.
