Argentina Beat Croatia 3-2 to Clinch Davis Cup Title

Argentina completed an improbable comeback and defeated Croatia on home soil to claim its first Davis Cup title.

After the opening day, the two nations were tied at 1-1.
Marin Cilic had given Croatia the first point with a 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 1-6 ,6-2 win over Federico Delbonis.
In the second rubber, Juan Martin del Potro put the Argentia on level terms with a hard fought 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-3, 7-5 victory over Ivo Karlovic.

In Saturday’s doubles rubber in front of a sold-out Arena Zagreb, Marin Cilic and Ivan Dodig produced a masterful performance defeating Juan Martin del Potro and Leonardo Mayer 7-6(2), 7-6(4), 6-3 to put the host nation ahead 2-1 after day 2 of competition.

In Sunday’s reverse singles, Juan Martin Del Potro came back from two sets down to beat Marin Cilic 6-7(4), 2-6, 7-5, 6-4, 6-3 and Federico Delbonis beat Ivo Karlovic 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 to complete Argentinian’s comeback.
