With all the challenges 2020 has brought, we were especially pleased to once again be able to support the Vukovar Tennis Camp led by Teniski Klub Borovo Naselje. This year’s camp provided 75 children the opportunity to spend a week learning how to hit forehands, backhands, and the importance of fair play. Due to the global situation, many of the camp’s usual coaches from across Europe were unable to attend, however local coaches, such as Pero Cvitković stepped up to make sure camp was held.
“Thanks to donations from the Marin Cilic Foundation & volunteer efforts of the coaches, we are thrilled to be able to once again provide this free camp and in doing so make tennis more accessible to a wider audience. Because tennis, and sport in general, should not be a privilege of a select few but rather available to all.” said Coach Pero.
Many thanks to the coaching staff for making the necessary adjustments to ensure all measures from local and national health experts were followed. We hope to have camp back in full swing, with more participants and our international coaches joining next summer.
The Vukovar Tennis Camp brings together children of various backgrounds and ability levels from the Vukovar region for a week of tennis fun. Started by Dino Ilečić, a Vukovar native who was forced to flee the region as a child during the war, this camp continues to grow its reach across the region.
